Hello one and all after such a long seance from my beloved blog.
Haha was away backpacking in Prague, Vienna and Paris during my 2 week summer holiday in july after my GP block and then was packed off to Inverness for my 10 week stint at Raigmore hospital doing my Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, A&E blocks for the first 5 weeks followed by the mix and match block with haematology, oncology, palliative medicine, genetics and endocrine blocks in the last 5 weeks.

I'm into my last week at inverness.
It's been great.
I leave with no regrets but lotsa fond memories.

I've seen the beauty and majesty of the highlands. I've experienced the mystery and power of Loch Ness.

I've received kindness, good teaching and lots of clinical experience from the hospital. So I leave with knowledge and confidence.

I've loved assisting in surgery. I've refound and confirmed my love and interest in orthopaedics.
And hopefully now I have more direction in my goals and aims.
Don't believe anyone who says they want to specialise in something if they haven't experienced it for themselves. Because that's bullshit! You never know for sure till you've had some experience in the field. Be it just 2 weeks, it's still kinda directive.

Things in the textbooks and lecture notes now make more sense as I see them being put into practise.

Practical skills like venepunctures, suturing, venflon insertions have been an interesting experience with each attempt. And hopefully I have become more confident though perhaps not perfectly proficiently perfect in them.

I've met new pple. I've made new frens. I've seen the true strength of the human spirit within the walls of the hospice and hospital. And I've appreciated every moment of it.

But now I have to bid farewell to Raigmore and inverness for now and return to aberdeen.

I will miss it.

But this is just so long for now...
