Sadness.....
My new family is disappearing one by one....
3 have gone yesterday, 1 this morning, 1 tomorrow morning
and then it will only be me.
one lonely sunday night before the madness of lugging
luggage to the airport and getting myself and my stuff safely onto the plane.

On thursday we had a flat christmas dinner.
It was a wonderful 3 course dinner with wine and crackers
held in our little kitchen filled with fairy lights and bathed in
a warm scented candle glow.
The dinner was made with lotsa love, sweat and other stuff.
First course was soup and bread rolls.
2nd course was the main course so we had turkey, nut roast, yorkshire pudding, sausage and baacon, bread sauce, stuffing, mash potatoes, parsnips, and grilled potatoes....all topped with rich gravy sauce.
definitely the most christmassy dinner i've had my entire life.
It sounds like it popped right out of a fairy tale.
Last course was desert, which was some biscuit based chocolate cream thingy stuffed with chocolate minstrels.

Sigh....
I'm gonna miss the whole noisy bunch of them.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you guys!

Okay...this is a follow up entry on what I did last night
Last night was truly spiritual and wonderful...

There was a choral service at St. Machar's Cathedral
last night at 8 so me and Dana decided to go for it.
I am glad I went for it, worth trudging through the dark streets
and braving the dark wooded and infamously dangerous
SEATON PARK after the service at 9.30pm.
Oh and did I mention the horrid cold gales???

Well, at last night's service, the University's choir was
there to sing carols and hymns that were interspersed throughout the
service.
When we entered the cathedral I was just
blown away by the beautiful stained glass panels, the
cobbled floors and high ceilings,
the pipe organ, the oak pews and the numerous family crests that
adorned the ceiling.
IT was just so spectacular.
oh and there was this massive christmas tree as well. :)

SO before the service, the pastor was leading the entire congregation
in singing christmast carols and was basically
amusing us with his funny accent and anecdotes.

At 8 the lights went off and the entire procession consisting of the
choir and other members of the clergy and the university went down
the middle of the aisle and took their seats.
So the usual sequence of a proper service
and the choir performed in between readings of the gospel.
My goodness! They must have been the best school choir I have
EVER heard.
Granted that the organist was a bit wanky at bits but the soloists
and the choir as a whole were SUPERB.
Between readings we were also made to stand and sing certain hymns and carols and it was so fun and lifted the spirits
and souls of everyone there.
It's just so fun and uplifting to sing in such an ancient cathedral.
The readings from the gospel were very nice and apt
but I think the meditation bit was the most poignant.

IT's was a truly wonderful experience.

TOday is a free day.
And I'm spending it with dead people again...
Well, it's not too bad really, more productive that way.
The bed is just way to cozy on a day like this.
Right update on what's happened in the past 24 hours.

Last evening went out for dinner with the girls:#
Fatimah, Michelle, Adrianne, Laura, Me and Gemma
There were supposed to be guys and some other friends but they
bailed out to spend more time preparing for a night out at Liquid.
Dinner was to be at Monkey House.( nice establishment, has both a restaurant
and bar incorporated in. Quite classy. Nice setting. MedSoc members come here
because we get 20% off and other priveleges. ~sweet~)

Right, so I was back from anatomy by 5.20pm and was busy
stomping and shuffling around my room trying to get my camera batt charged,
scanning past year papers, choosing outfit, makeup etc.
When I hear Noura wandering the halls going
'' I think I cut myself very deeply.....*laughter* (repeat) ''
Now, our little Noura likes attention and can tell a good story
so I had no idea whether she was truly bleeding to death
SO I came out of my room and asked her '''Where?''
And she shows me this disgustingly slit thumb, and she's like oozing everywhere
my goodness...it still makes me cringe.
So basically all of us went into action, some moaning,
Noura laughing ( I think she was in shock or something, I would be if I cut myself
preparing TOAST!!! *dun ask me how she did it*)
Dana going to the shop to buy chocolate, and the rest piling on
weird remedies. SO.... in the end I was like ''Right! Noura sit in the corner, apply pressure, the rest of you continue to prepare your tea (dinner)''
I went to my room, got bandages and some antiseptic cream, left it on the
dining table and told Noura that she could apply them when she was no longer
spouting blood and went back to my preparations.

Yeah, and she was fine after 10 minutes and managed to lend me her eye-liner.

Right, so got ready and took the quarter to 8 bus into town.
Our table was booked for 8...haha...talk about being on time.
Well, we managed to get ther on time well enough
SO we chatted and ordered. I got myself a plate of haddock
We also ordered a bottle of wine, Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc,
student's wine really haha....much to oaky with too much blended in it
for my taste but still, it was only £14.
Took photos, discussed weddings ( i don't know how we got there )
and then it was DESSERT time.
I have only a few words to say about this...
'' STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING WITH CREAM AND VANILLA ICE-CREAM''

My goodness....we basically floated away on a cloud of diabetic ecstasy.

NO wonder they say that the Scots have the Worst Diet in the world.

Yesterday we had a family outing to the European Fair
that was being held on Union Street.
About 3/4 of Union street was shut off to allow for
stalls and fair ground rides to be putup. It's actually kinda like an Ang MOh Pasar Malam
BTW, this fair comes like once every 6 months...and it's comprised
of stalls that come from all over Europe
like France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Greece, Turkey (?) etc.

SO the dandy bunch of us got up at 9.30 on a Saturday morning after
a night of absolute stupor and headed off into town on the 10 o'clock bus.

First stop was the train station as Kate wanted to dump her
luggage. She was going to catch the 3.10 train to visit her sister in Edinburgh yesterday afternoon.
Then we made a detour to trinity centre so that Dana could get gloves to warm her hands.
And that was when the no.1 problem with family outings occured:
The Case of the Missing Child.

Well...I was the missing child because somehow everyone wandered away from the glove shop in different directions and I missed them
so I wasn wandering on the streets till they called me on
my handphone.
And we were all reunited....awwww....wat a fairytale ending.

So we proceeded onto the streets and decided that we could each take our own time to wander around the stores and that we would meet up
at Weatherspoon's for lunch at 1pm

Hmm....Okie so here's wat I bought from the fair:
A whole package of perfumes that was going at 10 £
A extra long woolen scarf lined with Rabit fur froom this french stall 10£
chocolate wafers from a dutch stall -£1.50
3 bars of medicinal Marseilles soap (france) - £5
A cup of giant King Prawns bathed in Garlic Sauce (i think it's a french stall...I was more interested in the prawns. :P)- £2.50
A giant spicy german sausage bun-£3

Sigh...really painful having to list all that I bought
But they're all good buys...so I'm happy.
Guilt will catch up later.

AT 12 pm I was found by Kate, Dana and Laura,
and they told me that they had decided to just eat at the fair since
there was so much good food....needless to say I
was one step ahead having indulged in the prawns...which I
magnanimously directed them to...

So after a tiring day of shopping, gorging and indulging,
we made our way home on the 1.45 pm.
Everyone was so washed out, we either went to bed or
like me sat in my room and watched ER till
6pm had dinner and went back to room to watch a DVD
on ''RAT RACE''
For those of you who have watched it, you must agree that that is one of the funniest most ECCENTRIC show ever.
My good ness think 12 comedians in one show, the likes of cuba gooding junior, whoopi goldberg, john cleese, Rowan Atkinson...
I'm thinking mad house...it was so HILARIOUS!! A REAL RIOT!

AFter that, went over to Laura's room and watched NOtting Hill..
was actually kinda disappointed about it,
because I was always under the impression that it was some kinda
fantastic, life changing show...
Well, it wasn't exactly a flop but I wouldn't buy the DVD...
Hugh grant was so much younger there...that sorta saved the show.

Okie...gotta go load out my laundry!
SEe ya!

6:46 AM

I just came from watching the best show ever!!!!
For now at least...but I think it will be for a very long time after!!!

I LOVE

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
Okie granted that the singing wasn't all that good
but still,
the screen set and all those costume was quite a feast for the eyes
And I quite liked the way they did a blend in from past to present
black and white to colour....
And it was just so nice to have my memory refreshed
All those lovely songs sung under par, but still recognisable.
Sigh....wish I could see ti in its original
stage production as a musical.
I must have watched it years ago when it came to singapore.
But I must say....
no one beats Michael Crawford in his role as the Phantom!
In this production you have Gerard Butler as the Phantom...
middle aged SCOTTISH ( Glaswegian ) guy, thinning hair kept in place by copious amounts of gel.
The mask they gave him was a tad bit small or maybe that's because he's
a big man.
But he did give a believeable performance and was quite nice looking
for a guy his age.
The character that I REALLY have to gripe about is : RAOUL
My goodness...it's as though in every single movie
you have to have some whiny sub-sub-sub standard whimperer
He acted like this pathetic freak
and frankly speakin it was quite painful to see him
attempt to sing and act all pitiful
paticularly in the last few scenes when he was cornered in the dungeon
and let himself be so EASILY overpowered by the Phantom
LoSER with a CAPITAL L.....
yup that was the most disappointing part I was expecting more
fighting, more action...but NO!
He enters and gets overpowered...the worst part is that
he could actually see the Phantom coming towards him.
Sigh.....
You just can't have your cake and eat it can you.
But still it was a lovely show, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
Maybe I'll catch it in Singapore.
Okie...let's see wat else is there to say about today.
Today was a really short day.
Went in at 9 for one lecture
Had surface anatomy then caught the Phantom at 11.30
(P/s : Today is the first day of the screening of the Phantom. YAY!)
Surface Anatomy:
This week it was about the abdomen so we were given
BUTCHER' s plastic aprons to wear
and we got crayons and started drawing the different regions
etc onto our aprons.
Sounds pre-school huh?
Quite fun really.
Then we got one of the fellas to sacrifice his body for the sake of science
And we started to palpate his liver and kidneys
and hear his gut sounds and feel his abdominal aortic pulse.
And that was that really.
I'm gonna head back now and immerse myself in DVDs and ER.
Sigh....NEED MORE SELF CONTROL!!!!

5:35 AM

Alright, quick update before I go immerse myself in dead bodies.

Yesterday was the community course again.
We had a discussion about our family visits.
And man I think we discussed about the biggest dog ever that I've ever heard about.

Apparently the group of three visited a family that kept an 8.5 stone ~ 50kg
Rhodesian Ridgeback.
This breed of dog is kept in Africa and used to HERD LIONS.

Yes...so I think it was very apt that our GP tutor described the breed as basically
a labrador on steroids.
hmm.....Arnie in canine form?
And we were wondering '' Is it really safe to have a 4 month old baby around a monster
like that?'''
Well...but apparently it's really loyal and doesn't really care if the baby is crawling all
over it...
But...apparently it doesn't have quite a nice disposition towards neighbours...medics included.
SO it was no surprise that they had to keep it locked and chained when they were around.

Well...I suppose that's my interesting bit for the day.

Grooooowwlllll........

3:05 AM

Well, it's monday again.
I must be seriously bored to be here filling out
another entry.
It's in between lectures now.
Have a two hour break.
WHoopee.....not.....seriously running out of ideas
on what to do during these breaks.

ANyway, nothing much happened yesterday.
Did laundry, cleaned out my room, watched ER,
finished Angels and Demons.
Ate dinner,
slept.
Woke up at 4 am and did some work.
Have been awake ever since.

For all you Dan Brown Fans:
IF you liked The Davinci Code
you'd love Angels and Demons.
So proud to have finished that book.
A real page turner.
If you're gonna read it, start early on a saturday morning
and read non-stop.
But actually it doesn't matter if you don't read it continuously
because once you pick up from where you left off,
you're instantly back in the thick of the action.
I can't describe why I love that book.
Maybe I just love Dan Brown.
haha...
I'm bored once again....
Cheers

3:37 AM

What a long lazy weekend...
hmm...just the way I like it....
Hope to be fully energized and ready to power on
on Monday.....
2 MORE weeks to go and term ends!!!!
YAYAY!!!!

Okie...let's see wat did I do this weekend?

Saturday

Spent morning printing out notes both past and present.
Going through slides, appreciated fact that lecturers were attempting to make it all interesting by putting in all sortsa nice pics
and funny cartoons...
didn't quite appreciate having to sift out the unnecessary bits.

After that, decided to reward myself by going into town
to watch ''The Merchant of Venice''
except that it wasn't in cinemas yet, though the radio
had specifically said it would be on friday...
damn it...

Thankfully there was a christmas fair goin on in the middle
of the road in the city centre, so ambled and idly browsed through
the stalls.
Had fun watching pple screaming and throwing up as they
attempted the rides. Also fun to watch those....
And there was this ''Save the Birds'' stall and they brought in these
whole bunch of owls.
SO cute....well, but there was one which was actually
quite scary looking....it had this MEAN look, and it looked
so bloody serious...but still cute...awwwwwwwww.....

Went and got myself some pyjamas and a top
and then went to safeway's for groceries.
Returned home to DVDs....

Went to play pool with Dana and Noura at 9.30 pm.
Met some of the other singaporeans...
ended up going back to their flat
Started downloading a whole bunch of movies, ANIME, and seasons 1
and 2 of ER....
Now have approx 86 MB left on comp....but don't really care.

Needless to say I didn't sleep much last night...
but all for a good cause....haha

2:41 AM

Sigh...
2nd day in a row without a good night's sleep.

Granted that the night before last night was was due to
my own undoing

But last night,
that wretched girl had to come in drunk with her whole load of
wasted, and pot smoking freak friends.

DAmn it....I had to leave the windows open the entire night.
thank goodness for the electric blanket.
WIsh they could come down hard on her for that
ridiculously excessive amount of pot smoking she does.

The last time she went home,
she didn't return for a whole 1.5 weeks.
Yes, I whole hertedly agree with the rest of the flat
that the university should come down hard on her
for her delinquency and horrid habits.

Can you believe she wants to be a criminal law judge????

How Fascinating....

''IF''
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait, and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build em' up with worn out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch - and - toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the will which says to them : ' Hold On!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - not lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With 60 seconds' worth of distance run -
Your's is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
~ Rudyard Kipling ~

2:40 AM

I am not in a good shape today.
Everything and everyone around me sounds 5 times louder than it should be.
I've got a splitting headache.
And I have to deal with the fucking biomechanics of respiration.
Fuck Physics....

Not in a good mood today.

And I Just checked my email and there's this whole backload of
emails with all sorts of shit around.
And I just don't feel up to dealing with them.,...
But I've dealt with them....
What a feat.

I hate other people's birthdays....but I like them.

I hate it especially when they hold it at a club and I have to be up at
7.30 AM the next day.

Good night.
