I'm typing this with a sliced left ring finger.
yes! We can now officially say that Blood, sweat and tears have gone into this fucking
water fluoridation project!
note to self: remember to be very careful when using a penknife.

well, so let's have an update on what happened last night.

We ( me, dana, nourah, kate, laura, george and keith) decided to go to
the Hungry Horse which is this nice restaurant down the road from the halls
which caters the most massive portions of food.
So, we went there with the thought in mind to try the infamous
CADBURY CHOCKY MANIA.
It's basically this HUGE ( I mean this literally and in every sense of the word) desert bowl
filled with 4 scoops of choc ice cream, 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, 4 brownies,
loads of chocolate buttons and choc fudge balls, blocks of dark choc, and choc twirly wirlies.
I've said it once and i'll say it again, the Scots do make the most wicked desserts ever...
Not withstanding they do also have the highest rate of cardiovasculae disease...
But HEY! at least they die happy!

well, you could equate it to a swensons giant earthquake except that it's about 1.5 times
BIGGER and BETTER!

Well, so it was to pass that I had a starter of these LOVELY Chicken Goujons and that monster of a dessert.
Haha....it was so funny.
Dana and Nourah shared 2 starters and a chocky mania.
I had a starter and that chockymania.

hehe....it was a race to see who could finish that load, 2 vs 1 the game was on.
haha...towards the end both of them were visually sick.
Nourah was about 2 shades paler and Dana was whinging over the fact she was never going to touch chocolate ever.
and I was basically enjoying myself, stuffing my face with that absolutely heavenly, calorific, and hyperglycaemic dessert.

oh btw if you're wondering the starter's that they serve there are equivalent to main dishes elsewhere....but then again if you have to eat something as sweet as chockymania you have to have something savoury first or you'll just die.

SO basically the verdict was that I won the dessert competition and I'm officially the
Dessert Queen and basically at the end of it the rest of the lot were staring at me and going
''RESPECT....Esther that was just impressive....'' (watery eyed gazes....not joking about that)

hehe...the next bit of excitement came during the walk back up to the halls.
basically despite having just sent my body an absolute overdose of glucose I was
still merrily walking up the hill to the halls displaying absolutely no side effects from the feast thatwe just had.
Nourah and Dana were way behind me holding on to each other
and whimpering and whining all the way back......

HAAHAAAAAA HOHOHOHOHOHO HEEHeEEHEHE.......

All quaver at the might of ET- SAMA! The DESSERT QUEEN!

P/s....hope I spelt dessert right. Oh well... you get the meaning!

Hiez everyone brace yourself for an utterly long entry!

Well let's start off with Friday!

Right so after lectures at one, our community course group @Water fluoridation group
met up to finalise (again!) our project and get started on the presentation of the whole thing.
Well, so we got all our paper and craft stuff out, and then our tummies started to rumble...
so we decided to get some grub.
As we were making our way out of the exam room, guess who we run into?
Dr Stephen Davies, he graciously told us to go help ourselves to this catered buffet thing
in the debater room.
Apparently they had just had a Medical curriculum staff meeting and they had
just catered too much food.

Well, so basically, we hardworking medics were treated to a medieval banquet table
full of food.
we are talking high end here!
Kish, crepes, sashimi, beef, salad, Salmon, fish shish kebabs...etc...
Plus we also pilfered a 2 litre carton of orange juice and 6 bottles of sparkling water.

Well after lunch, we went back to the buffet spread to see if there was anything else to pilfer.
And soon, instead of having a proper project meeting, we were practically having a scavenger's
hunt,
We soon streamed out of the room with packets of shortbread and oat and honey cookies
Tea, sugar and coffee sachets
nicely decorated serviettes etc.

My goodness...if you thought singaporeans were kiasu you should have seen my partner's in crime. No plate was left unturned literally.

So after that fruitful lunch, we headed off and did our project.

Saturday...

Went to Edinburgh to watch a Rugby match between
Scotland and Italy in the Rugby 6 nations series!
WOW!
The game itself wasn't that actively fun i suppose,
But the atmosphere and the crowd at Murray field! That was just superb.
All the cheering, the bagpipes, the funny hats and all!
Just wonderful.
Me, Nourah, Dana, keith and Thomas set off from Aberdeen at 8am in the morning,
we got the 9.20 bus to Dundee and from there on to edinburgh.
we reached there at 1pm and met up at Hay's market
with John, James and Denise who were Dana's frens.
We had a lunch of the most spectacular and authentic Fish and Chips.
My goodness all wrapped up in brown papaer with lovely brown sauce, salt and pepper.
The most excellent lunch.

After the match we made our way back to the bus station and got the bus.
At Dundee, we had to make a change and whilst waiting, we decided to get dinner at this kebab place.
Well, me, keith and thomas ordered a SMALL Donner Kebab..
And frankly speaking what came was this HUGE, lump of a Kebab...
How...Ironic...
needless to say we had to give up eating it halfway.

and after that we caught the bus back to aberdeen.
We arrived safely at 9.10 pm.

Oh BTW, the score of the match was Scotland 18 Italy 10.
So WE WON! Though it was really all due to penalty shots...so I suppose that ain't too fantastic.

Okie...guys so that's the narrative.
Below are links to some photo albums I've uploaded! Enjoy!

ohaiyo mina~!

well, at the end of a real lax day.
sigh...
wish it could go on forever

Well update...

Yesterday afternoon, went flat viewing with nourah, dana and keith.
went to see the Ardmuir flats, down king's street...

My goodness they are equivalent to the condo's that we have in singapore,
Maybe slightly even more classy.

Right, so the Ardmuir accomodation is built by Barett's which is
apparently a very well known building and constructing firm, and for them to
do student accomodation with the same quality and level of design and furnishing
as they do their private accounts is truly spectacular.

So needless to say, we are talking top of the rank accomodation.
And guess what?!
It's only at 61.50 pounds a week per person bills inclusive.
And for that amount what do you get???

Fully furnished kitchen, with oven, hob, DISHWASHER, WASHING MACHINE AND DRYER.
woden panelling, with varnished surface. Cutlery etc all provided.

3 bedrooms, with desks, book shelves, cupboard.
A lounge with sofa and coffee table.

a storeroom, a mini hallway!

nicely carpeted floors!

Bathroom with....brace yoursleves for this..... a JACUZZI BATH! and shower, and sink and toilet pan!

oh did i mention, there's a bus that takes me directly to the medical school just on the main street from the flat. and the main school campus is just 5 minutes walk away! Youkata ne!

It's just lovely, I wanna move in straight away!!!!!

so anyway, after viewing those gorgeous flats we went down to the Bobbin which was just around the corner ( another plus point) The bobbin sells the absolute best, and most wicked
WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE! delectable....

Whilst we were waiting for our dinner to come by we got Dana to read our palms.

Well this is mine:

From the viewing of the back of my palm:
A very practical person, with a good balance in personal time and social life. Very very direct.
very fair. not too selfish. Not easily swayed by other people's suggestions. Very independent.

From the viewing of the front of my palm:
A very distinct destiny line, whatever I choose to do in life it will be a success.
there's marriage and a son. Emotional and physical health throughout life. Will make a decision for path in life somewhere in my mid 20s and whatever my decision is it will be a success.

What can I say.....

Well, after that we walked back to crummy old hillhead, hand in hand, all 4 of us.
Which was really fun....though...
well....recently the four of them have taken to giving ME ( Esther-sama!!!!) GROUP HUGS!!!
and they basically did that all the way back.
Sudden spontaneous group hugs.
Well...it might be weird...but seriously in the cold evening wind, with drifting snow...
It really makes your heart feel so damn WARM!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Vic has broken her arm.
well...broke is truly an understatement if you ask me.

This is the diagnosis:
Distally dislocated elbow joint, dislocated shoulder and left supracondylar fracture of the humerus.

And she now has pins and 2 plates permanently screwed into her arm.

and the cause of all this: She slipped and fell at a club in town.

sigh...shit happens.

so we went and visited her yesterday evening.
It was a shitty day mind you.
Dana and nourah were in from 9-5 and so was I.
And we had to wait out in the cold and snow for the fucking no.6 to go to forresterhill.
Geez..it was so cold my toes almost freezed off.
I'm not joking when I say I couldn't feel my toes.

So we went there, visited her, and got back in a cab. It was just too fucking cold,
and we were all fucking grumpy and tired and hungry.

So we went back and had dinner and proceeded to play badminton from 9.30 to 11.30 pm
later on.

This morning, it was snowing again.
So beautiful, after the morning lecture I walked back through Seaton Park
and it began to snow....
how beautiful.....

Winter wonderland....

No doubt about it.....

All hail global warming for snow in winter!

5:42 AM

It's SNOWING again!

The weather here has truly been eratic.
For example, yesterday morning was bright and sunny...and to a certain extent
it was HOT.

I was home from school at 1.45pm after a community course project meeting,
sigh....yes guys, it's the Water Fluoridation project.
well, I must say that it's getting nicely together, almost all of us have completed our parts,
Save for GHAZZI...who has gone AWOL on lectures and our project meeting,
well....if he doesn't turn up on tuesday when we're putting references and everything together,
Josh and Ally are just going to turn up at his doorstep with a baseball bat...
hehe....that would beat some sense into him.

Well, so after returning home, it was another lazy afternoon.
As a rule of thumb I don't do much or any work on fridays after school, it's a sorta chillout day
if you get my drift, so I had a shower, changed into my jamys (pyjamas...yes. I wear pyjamas here...because it's comfortable and it's cold enough...and they're pretty.)
and went into bed.
Seeing that it was so hot, I opened every section of my window and went and took a nap.
So basically my window was open throughout the afternoon.
When I woke up at 5pm ameena from next door came banging on my door
demanding that I tried her beef noodles ....
yes...you heard it right, BEEF noodles.
so I went and tried them, and they were actually edible, so I partook in a plate of it.

later on as I was walking past Vic's room after washing up my dish,
I saw a very amazing sight.
It was to be my virgin experience with a 2 foot pizza.
It looked like a truck tyre. and it only cost 10 pounds. That's equivalent in price
to our daily miniscule pizza hut large pizza which is about 1/4 it's size.

And it tasted very nice.

Well, so I went back to my room and discovered that it had started to rain and the wind
was beginning to pick up.
As the howling and the thrashing of the tree branches increased I decided it was time to shut
my main window.
And doing so I proceeded to feast on anime.
I must say, that I'm beginning to get what wolf's rain is all about.
It's a feat because I'm reading the chinese subtitles because the english translations
are just so freaking Laughable.
But as always, the music is superb.

went to bed at 12 midnight, woke up to pee at 2 am
and discovered that....GEE WHIZ!
There's a fucking snow blizzard outside my window,
sat up to watch the snow swirling and falling gently on a blanket of pure white.

Zen zen kirei ne....

Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake. Let us use it before it is too late.

2:20 AM

Well, time to update again.

Yesterday was a lazy day with a fun night.
How you might ask? Well basically, lectures ended at 12.45 and I was back in my room by 1pm
Had lunch, Had a shower.
Changed into pyjamas and climbed into bed.
and proceeded to read the day's lectures.
After that, was tired so went to bed proper, and napped till 5pm.
Woke up, and began to read the Naruto manga that I've been downloading,
hmm...interesting.

Had dinner of baked potatoes and sausages.

Prepared for the Virgin Vie Cosmetic party that Claire was holding.
That's when the fun began.

Well, basically, Alicia who's another coursemate is working part time
as a cosmetic consultant for Virgin Vie. Yes, if you're wondering it's the cosmetic
line from the same virgin company which brought you virgin mobile and virgin airlines
in short, that guy is filthy rich.

So alicia handed out catalogues of the different products, brought us through it,
and proceeded to do a makeover for one of the attendees.
afterwards, we pigged out on snacks and dips and proceeded to order stuff.

Well, the cosmetic and skin care products aren't that cheap but
we were trying on the samples that she had, and the general consensus was that it was
excellent stuff, which smelt good, looked good, and was
just so damn refreshening and nice.

and of course it was good for the skin as well. All skin care products made in switzerland, the home of estee lauder and lancome.

So needless to say, I will be hosting a virgin vie party at my flat on the 7th of March.
hehe.....
Hostesses get free gifts and discounts!

hehe......

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah,
Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah,
Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I walk alone
I walk a...
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one
and I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

Right, those of you who have made it here, have made it through
another series fo filtration that I've down to keep this blog as private as possible.

Hope, that the sanctity of this blog remains well kept.

Those of you who are reading this, thank you lucky stars.

Anyway, on to what happened yesterday.

It was Dana's birthday, so we had a pyjama party + girl's night in thing.

It was wonderful, all the wine, chocolate, cake, marshmallows, dip.

It was chocolate and sweets galore and heaven.

Then the corruption began.

We began to watch DVDs, and as luck would have it, Dana decided that we should watch,

The Secretary.

I had no idea wat the film was about, except that it was SUPPOSED to be a comedy.

IT was SO FAR FROM THAT! Within the 2 hour span, I felt so disturbed, and uneasy.

I have no wish to elaborate on what the show was about, except that it was basically
a film on the relationship between a sadist and a masochist.

you can go and read up about the film or imagine wat it was about.

But all I can say was that....it was another traumatic experience for the day.

2:20 AM

I have just been through a terribly traumatic experience.

I swear never to enter O&G. Ever...

We are currently doing reproductive medicine for systems. And believe you me...
it has been terrible.

It's not tat I don't like the subject. IT's just that...well....it's a bit too...intimate...for me.
And in addition to that there's that AWFUL grouping. Geez....I can't wait till the tutorials end on
wednesday, and I won't have deal with that BITCH, for quite some time...at least till the next radiology or surface anatomy class...which occurs every friday.

Sigh....thank you GOd for the trials you've put me through.

Well, the traumatic experience today..

Well, we had 2 women in late pregnancy come to our lecture to answer our questions
and basically tell us what it's like to be pregnant and stuff like that.
That was really interesting, and I enjoyed it.

then the dreadful bit...
The lecturer then proceeded to show us this video on
Parturition...which is basically labour and delivery.

Oh my Goodness....
I was this close to balking and passing out.
It wasn't too bad when the baby was beign delivered and all....but it was the afterbirth.
YES! the AFTERBIRTH....placenta and all...that was....absolutely DREADFUL.

I was just about to throw up. and then thankfully the video ended.

I didn't think I could eat after that.

And then, the lecturer pulls out this extra bucket (literally) of surprises...
And WOW! GUESS WHAT's in the BUCKET?

THE AFTERBIRTH FROM A TWIN BIRTHING!!!!
HOORAY!

NOt...

And we were made to line up and go past her as she explained what was what.
and where, and what each part of that slimy, red mess was and wat it was meant to do..
Thankfully it was for only 10 minutes...

Sigh....

I just can't wait for my O&G placement. Hooray!

The wind is howling outside, like a mother who's lost a child

The trees are trashing their arm in the air, like the wronged beseeching justice

The heavens are weeping down upon us.

But are those tears of hate or sadness?

1:45 PM

okie first things first..... HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

Okie...update on what's happened so far...

Yesterday, I held 'reunion dinner' at my flat.
hehe...dinner was for all my flat mates, 2 outsiders and 5 singaporeans+malaysians+PRC.
hehe...not bad huh...and I arranged it on the spur of the moment.
And I had less than 24 hours to think of what to cook and all
and I managed to pull through...almost singlehandedly.

So this was the menu:

1) Salmon ( marinated in lemon juice and pan fried)
2) Soy Sauce marinated chicken with celery and chong
3) Potato salad with cucumber
4) Stirfried vegetables with tofu in oyster sauce
5) Crab sticks in batter
6) Vegetable soup and chicken broth
7) Noodles ( provided by the other chinese)

hehe...not bad huh...from scratch leh...hehe....
really proud about this achievement. And everything was finished man!
At least the food that I cooked, still have some noodles...will probably feed me for about 5 days.
First time I ever cooked on such a large scale some more.

And...the potato salad was a huge hit!
It had raving reviews, everyone who tasted it loved it!
hehe....not too bad huh? And it's the first time I've ever attempted to make potato salad.
Beginner's luck or is this the making of a true chef??? I wonder.

Yup so we had fun and we mingled and all...all great fun!
what a success....

Right...
today we had interprofessional education at Robert Gordon University this afternoon.
This is basically a seminar where medics and students studying in
other medical related field come together and do case studies so that
we understand each other's role in the medical field and how to communicate with each other.
It was really good, and I learnt quite a bit and got to know new pple.

BUt as luck would have it, it wasn't all perfect... because I was unfortunate enough to have
that fucking greek girl in my group.
If you guys haven't read about her, she's this damn bitch who's constantly trying to
ATTRACT ATTENTION and always ACTING SMART....always trying to seek the
PROF's ATTENTION...walau....how pitifully PATHETIC....

anyway she was flirting around as usual and then when our coordinator was asking the entire group what we had learnt from this seminar, she went on and on
about how doctors should respect nurses and vice versa,
and how pple should respect each other and let everyone have an opportunity to talk
and how we should respect each other's views etc.

Well....basically she stated stuff that she for one never does.
Fucking hypocrite.

And that damn girl is constantly trying to compete with me....walau...mendoksen man!

But I just ignore her, because to me, she's nobody that warrants my attention. if she wants to act smart and get attention, by all means she should just proceed. After all, my primary form of entertainment in class is basically watching these smart alecks foul up....

how .... interesting.....

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: 'O Lord, make my enemies ridiculous.' And God granted it.

7:22 AM

Just a quick shout out from me.

This weekend was a pretty lazy one. Spent most of it indoors except for the time i had to
spend doing laundry and buying grocery.
Partly because i wanted to finish the novel 'The Lovely Bones' and
practically because I was sore all over from having played 3 hours non-stop of badminton on
Friday. It was fun but I must say, I might have just pushed the limit.

'The Lovely Bones' is a truly lovely story.
It's a must read that comes highly recommended from me.
It's a tale about tragedy, lost, faith, love and
all the right elements that makes it one of the rare novels that I would recommend.

Sigh...
it's a story about life.
And a rather apt account of it.

Go read it.

New change again.
Hope you like this.
I think the other one sorta crashed.

I think I prefer this one.
more clean cut and neat.

9:19 AM

finally updating after a couple of days.
right so on with it....

Tuesday:

Had family visit. last visit for the year with little luke and his sweet mother louise.
luke has grown a tad bit overweight since we last saw him.
he was kinda phelgmy when we saw him.
But he was just as cute, active and lovely as ever.
However, due to lack of questions to ask and being pressed for time,
our visit was only 20 minutes long.
sigh... but it was nice seeing luke again.

and this time, heavyside had nothing stupid to say. which was a bonus.
next year we get to visit and old person and a handicapped person.
wonder who my partner will be next year ..... hmmm .....

Well, we finally had our fondue party (is that how u spell it?) yesterday...
due to overwhelming depression and the lack of lighter fluid, we didn't have it
on monday as planned. Blame it on the monday blues that's all i can say....

well...so fondue it was...
My goodness....
we had marshmallows, strawberries, mango, banana, choc sticks, mix fruit cocktail, pineapple
as the dipping ingredients,
and we had a whole ton of choc for the wicked mixture.
thanks to Kate who got a fondue set from father christmas, we basically suffered from
excessively high blood glucose levels!
AFter feasting for half and hour we were all rolling about in our chairs, stuffed to the brim
with the sticky goodness that had a paradoxical effect of making us feel sick.
but as we all agreed, if we went into shock and died, we would probably have died happy...
one of the euphoric effects of eating to much sweet stuff...
All in all it was an excellent party, more like a buffet really.

sugoi ne!

cheers!
