Happy halloween everyone!
Well just a quick update seeing that time has gone back and hour and that even though I have a milliion more relevant and pressing things to do I have decided to waste this one hour.
Well...lets seeeee......
Goin into second week of reproductive medicine. Last four weeks of teaching before we break for 4 weeks for SSM project. whoohoo!
Wat can I say... i suppose it doesn't matter how old u get when it comes to talking about periods, condoms, birth control, sex and reproductive organs....guys....GROW UP! It's actually quite funny when we were doing the tutorial and demonstrations on birth control. We were in groups and it was kinda funny to see the guys huddle together in their own little clicks, whispering and pointing and cringing whilst we were talking about condoms and IUDs. But they sure were interested in the morning after pill well....at least until they heard that it cost about 25 pounds per pill....haha...think twice guys and gals!
Finished my very pleasant and interesting 6 weeks at the oncology and haematology wards. Had an OSCE at the end of it all. Not too bad managed to make a very good improvement in my score compared to the infection unit one. Which strives to prove my point that there was definitely some sort of weird and purposeful student demoralisation goin on at that ward seeing that my score this time round was actually higher than the highest score in our group during our rotation at that ward. Sandy mchenzie......we know u love eating medical students for breakfast!
Went for my ex flatmate Kate's 21st birthday on Saturday. Went as the wicked witch of the west. Those of u who received the link to my webshots collection go take a look at the final outcome. Wasn't too bad I must say but all the fuss and dressing up and make up and the fact that I actually wasted time doing all that has started to make me worry. I WILL NOT BECOME A BIMBO! But yah it's kinda fun to do this especially during halloween. Yeah...but the weirdest, most distressing outcome of this night out was the fact that I have now officially LOST MY VOICE. Literally....it comes out in a harsh whisper. And no...it's not laryngitis and I don't have a tender throat. I think I must have strained my voice a bit too hard trying to go over the pounding music at the Priory though we were only there for abt half and hour before deciding that the crowd was literally suffocating us.
Man....this is going to be interesting explaining to my consultant tml during wards why I can't answer any questions and taking a history may be a bit difficult.
yup...next rotation is the surgical rotation. Will be goin through general, cardiothoracic, vascular, urology surgery...apparently I heard there's a lot of tutorials and teaching going on as well as suturing courses.... hopefully it will actually be fun.
