5th November 2004 – Guy Fawke’s Night

Today was super! It was GREAT! It was FANTABULOUS!!!!!

Today was GUY FAWKE’S DAY!

YAY!!!

To start with this afternoon we got to know our groupings for the community course that we have to do. It really made my day to know that my community course group for Phase 1 and Phase 2 does not include that awful tart of a girl and that dick head. Which is a very good thing because I’m really looking forward to all the GP visits and family visits that we are going to be doing during this course and it would be a really pity and waste if I had to spend each and every session with someone ( or some people ) who think that they know everything and are better than everyone else. Actually they’re more like the opposite. But well, I don’t care so long as they stay off my case.

So we finished the administrative bit rather quickly and so we were let off for lunch at half and hour earlier which was EXCELLENT because me and Laura had planned to go down to Jimmy Chung’s Buffet Lunch during the two hour lunch break before the cells and molecule’s tutorial at 3. So the early break was timely and well used. Stuffed myself with lotsa food. A tad bit too much I think but still….who cares!!!! Needless to say I had no use for dinner that night. Haha…except for maybe a bit of Dana’s lovely vegetarian chilli corn. Excellent stuff and it really looks like it’s beef based but it’s vegetarian stuff…hmm… anyway I don’t care so long as there’s lovely spicy food. Yumm….

So after dinner we started our 45 minute trek from hillhead to the beach. We could have taken the quicker way which was just a straight path down to the beach but well… we decided to take a deservedly more scenic and adventurous route so we went this huge semi-circle but managed to take a really nice walk along the beach to the hill where the firework’s display was to take place. We set out at around 6.30 in the evening.
Yes….in the cold autumn (winter??) evening in November. Not too wise an idea but we were all wrapped out in layers of clothes so it wasn’t too bad. And the best part was when half way through the track, all the walking and talking made us hot and sweaty so out came the layers, one after another. Haha…

So there we were, a merry gang of 7 consisting of 4 girls and 3 guys : Dana, Noura, Kate, Me, Ollie, Ian and Alan. It was really lovely walking along the beach, the fresh air, cold, refreshing gales. It was all good. It was dark all around but that made it even better and easier to see the fireworks that were going on all around us.
So we managed to reach the fireworks display site on the hill behind the Seaton Golf course at around 7.15 and basically set around on the steps lighting candles and chatting till 7.30 when the display started.

My goodness! I’ve never seen fireworks this good before. Nothing like the puny fireworks display I’ve seen during National Day in Singapore. These were like really huge, colourful and explosive fireworks. They just went on and on and on for 45 minutes. All sorts of shapes, Colours, SOUNDS ( I swear! It’s really fascinating but different types had different sounds accompanying them ). It was just superb. It was breath taking. It was
spirit elevating. I loved it.
There were so many people around, old and young, everyone had made it out on a cold night like this to view this spectacular display. It was EXCELLENT.

So after the entire display was sadly over, we made our long trek back home again.
It was great fun. We reached hill head at around 8.45pm and decided to go to the Watering Hole ( on site pub ) and have a pint or two. Dana bought us rounds and I had some bailey’s. Good stuff especially after such a cold trek. Haha….superb. Having warmed our spirits, hands and bodies with spirits, me, Kate, Dana and Noura decided to have a game of football ( soccer ) on the little soccer playing table. So it was me and Kate versus the other two, and we beat them 2 games to 1. It was good fun. Haha….Ollie came on later to team with Dana to have a final decisive game against me and Kate, needless to say we beat them shitless. HAHA!

SO after that game we went back to the flat where we had pineapple and card games. Keith came over later and we basically gave him shit for being drunk on Halloween and saying crude things to us. HAHa! So basically we made sure he did not win any card games till he had said sorry to us. HAHA!

Well, the card games are over and here I am typing this. Going to bed now. NitEZ!
