Hi everyone! Been days since I updated. Been down with fever and the chills. Hyperventilated yesterday. After yesterday, I finally had a glimpse of what it means to 'die of cold'. Sigh....so here I am today, out of bed and raving to do my bit for the conservation of one of my most loved animals :
The Snow Leopard
The Elusive Phantom Majesty of the Himalayan Mountains
Snow Leopard
Genus:
Uncia Uncia ( not related to other members of the pantherine group. only member of this genus)
Location:
Mountainous regions of central Asia, ranging in the north from Russia and Mongolia down through China and Tibet into the Himalayan regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India
General Facts:
Solitary hunter except maybe during mating season (3 mths a year) when they might actually pair off. May reach
2m in length from nose to tail tip when mature.
Thick woolly coat to fight the cold. Furry tail about 1m in length, acts as a balancing pole. Considered as one of the more
gentle of the Big Cats.
Can bring down prey
3X its size and weight. Has been on the list of
Endangered Species since
1972.
Well, for other nitty gritty details you can do a bit of research on the subject. Truly fascinating. However, the truly 'fascinating' thing is that a creature as beautiful and majestic as this is losing its place in the wild and has been deemed capable of surviving only in captivity and not in the wild. Another sad reality of the dominance of homo sapiens. After we have robbed them off their habitats and prey, we proceed to humiliate them in our cages. Talk about adding insult to injury.

A breath of Freedom

Hanging by a thread...
Perhaps education and conservative measures may assist in desisting the above mentioned selfish behaviour but I believe impossible changes have to be made to prevent this...

Immortalized beauty
from becoming this...how
vulgar

Eventual fate?
How do we sleep at night? I still don't know why I can't sleep at night...

Restless Slumber...
I bet a lot of you didn't know that such a creature existed till now. No blame there. They're too rare to be seen in the wild anyway, and only a few zoos keep them. well, maybe in a couple of decades, the only place we'll be able to see them is in cyberspace.
